Living a healthier lifestyle is sometimes easier said than done.

When our lives are so hectic with balancing work, family, and friends, we might wonder how we can possibly squeeze in what we perceive to be radical lifestyle changes simply to be healthier.

The good news is that you can make slow and subtle shifts toward feeling better each day without feeling like you have to sacrifice everything in your full and busy life! It’s really about the small stuff.

Integrating healthy habits into your daily routine can have a far-reaching and widespread impact on your overall health and happiness. At Hyperbiotics, we’re incredibly fortunate to work with a talented team full of progressive, health-passionate professionals determined to live happy, healthy lives.

So, we asked a handful of them about their healthy habits and ended up with an excellent and inspiring list of practices that anyone can adopt into their routine to maximize vitality and wellness on a consistent basis.

“In our family, we’ve realized that if we can start out our day on a healthy foot, everything else seems to fall in line. One of our most yummy habits is making a green superfood smoothie for breakfast that includes kale, spirulina, and chia and flax seed. Now that we have a child, it’s even more fun (and important). Our little guy is a green smoothie eating machine!” 


Heather | Marketing
“Every Sunday, my 3 year old son Calyx and I take a 7 mile hike in the forest. It’s a wonderful time for us to bond. Getting fresh air and exercise is our favorite way to unwind from the week and experience the quiet and stillness of nature together. ”



Lucas | Operations
“Rain or shine, we try to go for a walk after dinner. It's a great time to help us digest our food, breathe in some fresh air, decompress from the day, and connect as a family.”




Krystal | Customer Service 
“When the afternoon craving hits, I drink herbal tea instead of mindlessly snacking. It fills me up and gives me some natural energy to finish out my afternoons with clarity and a calm tummy.”

“I'm lucky to live in a farming community with several organic farms within 20 minutes of my house. I love being able to go to the farm stands a couple of times each week and pick out produce for my family's meals. Even better, I love to bring my kids with me so they can see the beauty of buying local and supporting small, organic farmers!”

“Eliminate negative self-talk! Many of us say terrible things to ourselves all day long, so much so that we end up believing them. Live by the rule of thumb that you should only speak to yourself as you would to a close friend or family member. Also, give and receive lots of hugs—they're really good for you.”

“My healthy habits are pretty simple and for me, it’s all about balance. Meditation everyday. A workout everyday. Tequila every night. Just kidding…sort of.”

“We use non-toxic and eco-friendly products around the house whenever possible. We’re a busy family, so for us it’s an easy way to avoid harsh chemicals and artificial gunk. We just figure if you’re going to buy cleaning supplies, you might as well check the label and use what’s best for human bodies.”


Dana | Practitioner Relations
“Show compassion. I find that reaching out to others with kindness and empathy not only makes them feel better, but it can make me feel better, too. In fact, recent studies have shown that a compassionate lifestyle can increase longevity. Plus, it’s just so easy to do.”


April | Operations
“Mornings start with a gratitude meditation, followed by some form of exercise (in the winter that’s a dance party in my living room!). The combination gets me grounded and energized for the day.”



Natalie | Social Media
I can eat clean and exercise until I'm blue in the face, but if I'm neglecting my mental and emotional health, none of that matters. (This is truer than ever now that I’m a mom!) I’ve found that starting the morning with gratitude sets the tone for the entire day. Taking just 5 minutes to reflect and be grateful transforms my attitude and renews my focus, so that I’m healthy from the inside out.


Laura | Customer Service
Cultivate relationships (and have fun!): I’m a natural introvert and always thought that I could live by myself on a mountaintop and be the happiest person in the world. However, I’ve had so much fun this past year with my handful of best friends that I’ve changed my mind about the mountain. Real human connection is an important part of the human experience. It engages all of the senses and gives me a break from, well – me!
